Antonelli Takes Inaugural F1 Trophy at Madring, Marquez Dominates MotoGP in San Marino, Lawson Takes Gateway NASCAR Race, Fong and Beaubier Split MotoAmerica Superbike Wins

Formula 1

Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli claimed victory at the inaugural Madring Grand Prix, taking his eighth win of the 2026 season ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and McLaren driver Lando Norris. Pole-sitter Norris built an early advantage before a virtual safety car handed his rivals a tactical pit-stop opportunity, which was further compounded by a delayed service. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished fourth with George Russell fifth, allowing Antonelli to stretch his championship cushion over his Mercedes teammate to 81 points. Lewis Hamilton was forced to retire with brake issues. While Norris had strong underlying pace, Antonelli once again paired execution with optimal pit strategy.

NASCAR

Hendricks Motorsports Chevy driver Kyle Larson survived a chaotic series of overtime restarts at World Wide Technology Raceway to score his first win of 2026 and snap a 51-race winless drought. Lawson’s teammates Alex Bowman secured second in the Enjoy Illinois 300, while William Byron bounced back from a Darlington engine failure to finish fourth behind Team Penske’s Joey Logano. NASCAR Chase points leader Denny Hamlin was the highest-finishing Toyota driver in ninth as attrition hit several contenders hard; brake failures sidelined Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott, and Chris Buescher, while late incidents collected Christopher Bell, Bubba Wallace, and Chase Briscoe.

MotoGP

Ducati Lenovo Racing’s Marc Márquez completed a weekend sweep at Misano, winning both Saturday’s Sprint and Sunday’s Grand Prix. Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martín filled out the Sprint podium, but Bezzecchi crashed out of the lead on the opening lap Sunday. Álex Márquez took second in the main event ahead of Pedro Acosta (KTM), Fermín Aldeguer (Aprilia), and Martín. Marquez and Martín are now even in the championship point standings at 274 points, with Marc holding the tiebreaker on grand prix victories. Bezzecchi sits 33 points back. Francesco Bagnaia also crashed out of Sunday's race. Acosta earned another podium finish, while Álex Márquez impressed by climbing from ninth to second ahead of next week’s round in Austria.

MotoAmerica

Warhorse HSBK Ducati rider Cameron Beaubier made a victorious comeback at Circuit of the Americas after missing four months due to injury, capturing Saturday's Race 1 over Cameron Petersen and Yamah’s Bobby Fong. Title aspirants Mathew Scholtz and JD Beach both suffered DNFs. Fong rebounded to take Sunday’s Race 2 victory, followed by Petersen, BMW rider Sean Dylan Kelly, Beaubier, and Beach. Petersen delivered a strong performance with consecutive runner-up finishes, while Kelly remains in thick of the title fight heading into the season finale at New Jersey.
