The 1-Day Formula FE2 Grand Prix Class immerses the student racer in the adrenaline-filled world of formula car driving behind the wheel of the Van Diemen Formula Enterprises 2 (FE2) race car, an advanced, purpose-built machine that delivers true open-wheel performance.

The day begins with a comprehensive orientation that includes in-depth mechanical and aerodynamic overviews of the FE2 platform, along with a technical walkthrough of the Podium Club’s West Loop circuit. Drivers gain critical insights into chassis dynamics, downforce behavior, braking zones, and track-specific nuances—setting the foundation for high-performance execution.

Early sessions focus on developing core competencies through focused drills in shifting technique, threshold braking, and cornering precision. These exercises allow students to build speed progressively, develop mechanical sympathy with the FE2, and internalize the balance between grip, weight transfer, and power delivery.

As confidence builds, students move into a series of lead-and-follow sessions designed to reinforce visual reference points, optimal racing lines, and high-speed car control. The structured progression allows each driver to adapt to the car’s aerodynamics and mid-engine balance at a competitive pace.

By the afternoon, participants step up to the full 2.32-mile Grand Prix layout, where the FE2’s capabilities truly come alive. Students now apply their training across high-speed straights, complex corner sequences, and braking zones that test both precision and nerve. Students get to experience the performance envelope of a modern open-wheel race car in a dynamic, professional racing-focused environment.
